WHO IS HST?

Since 2009, HST has been at the forefront of delivering Value-Based Payments (VBP) that reduce healthcare costs while establishing sustainable benefit plans. HST’s pricing technologies provide cost benchmarks to objectively determine the value of medical services and to introduce pricing accountability.

Purchasing healthcare is an opaque process (comprising confidential PPO agreements), which prevents consumers from comparing prices to establish the value of medical care. Timely access to reliable cost and quality is essential for determining the value of provider payments. By combining price and quality, HST is changing the way we purchase healthcare today while facilitating accountable care.

Our Executive Team has a proven track record when it comes to healthcare technology. Our seasoned team is led by our CEO Ed Day who has over 30 + years’ experience in the healthcare industry. HST excels at deploying technology to optimize claims cost, security, dependability and scalability. We possess strong working knowledge of the healthcare industries that enables us to deliver customized solutions to our clients.

Edward Day

CEO

Ed founded HST in 2009 with a vision of introducing pricing transparency to an opaque and dysfunctional healthcare market. HST’s pricing technologies provide on-demand pricing and cost data to validate the value for medical services. Prior to launching HST, Ed co-founded TC3 Health Inc., a loss control and risk analytics company overseeing strategy and business development. TC3 was acquired by Emdeon the nation’s leading healthcare transactions processor and a Blackstone company. Previously he was VP Business Development at Healtheon/WebMD, one of the nation’s premiere healthcare IT organizations. Other engagements include a number of successful ventures with companies such as Pacific Life, Beech Street (MultiPlan) and the Institute for International Trade and Development Ed is published on a range of topics and speaks on emerging technologies. He has extensive knowledge in the financial and healthcare sectors and serves on several boards, holds technology patents and lectures at California State University, Fullerton on international risk management and at University of California, Irvine on technology. He holds a Master’s degree in Development Banking from American University in Washington, DC and Bachelor degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Ryan Day

President

Ryan Day is a seasoned executive with expertise in developing innovative technology solutions for both financial services and healthcare markets. He started his career with a boutique Wall Street firm specializing in investments and employee benefits for nonprofit and hospital systems. As President of HST, Ryan oversees operations and product development bringing to HST an extensive background in finance, technology and strategy. Ryan’s professional accomplishments are balanced with his commitment to make a difference” that is reflected in his broad range of community services. He is recently published in the area of pricing technology and is considered an SME in the area of pricing transparency in healthcare. He holds a Master’s of Science in Banking and Financial Services Management from Boston University and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from California State University, Fullerton.

Ryan Day

Toni Creel

Chief Operations Officer

Toni Creel is Chief Operations Officer and is charged with account management, the Patient Advocacy Center and provider development. She brings a 30-year career in client, executive and strategic management. Toni has extensive experience in healthcare, implementations, customer service, relationship management and product integration. Prior to joining HST, Toni served as Vice President of Account Management at TC3 Health where she developed and managed the client services and account management departments. She was crucial in the company’s rapid revenue growth from an early stage start up to a mid market leader. She successfully served in a similar capacity as Director of Account Management for Beech Street (MultiPlan) and ppoNEXT–both national Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) with specific focus on provider network contracts, utilization and case management services. Toni continues to build on her considerable industry knowledge and experience with growth stage companies that are client centric and embrace technological solutions to promote customer success. She’s focused her education in business administration and has received numerous industry certifications.

Ed Sicard

Chief Technology Officer

Ed has more than 30 years of experience in software architecture/development. His specialties include Server Architecture, Software Architecture, Team Management, UI Design, Budgeting, Data Center Design and Management, Management of State and Local Government Contracts, as well as being a HIPAA Certified Security Compliance Specialist and Certified HIPAA Professional. He has produced more than 65 software titles. He has designed software and managed the IT departments and development teams for successful startups and large national health care companies. Since 1998, Ed has focused on the healthcare industry, devising applications to improve patient and staff satisfaction, population management and patient care quality. Previously, he held key design and IT executive management positions at Vital Data, Skylight Healthcare Systems and PacifiCare. He helped create and design a multi redundant data center system utilizing three secure data centers throughout the United States. He has managed the NCQA creation and certification of HEDIS measures and created and developed Predictive HEDIS. He designed and managed a Patient Care Reporting (PCR) system for use with Police, Fire and Ambulances, which was utilized by over 14 counties in California and covered of over 3,400 medical users and county officials.

Doug Farquhar

VP Corporate Development

Doug joined HST in early 2018 to help manage existing and develop key company relationships. Further he will assist developing systems and processes for underwriting, marketing, sales and account management. His prior experience in the insurance industry includes tenures in both P&C and L&H underwriting, claims, risk management, IT and sales. He served as Executive Director for Soluta most recently growing their EMR software for onsite clinics. As CIO and VP of Business Development for AIG he helped grow their medical stop-loss division and developed the technology product MEDInnovation. Doug was a founder, board member and ran all insurances services for Applied Underwriters which was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway. Previously he spent a decade in a number of underwriting, risk management and claims roles for various P&C coverages. Doug was also the founder and CEO of Green Retail and Wholesale, LLC that operated a number of eCommerce sites and had a successful exit. Doug received a degree in Political and Computer Sciences from Drew University, Madison NJ. He also holds the CLU designation from the American College and the CPCU, AIC, ARE, ARM and AU from the American Institute.

Matt Kennedy

VP Business Development

Matthew brings a wealth of experience working 8 years in financial services followed by 10 years in healthcare. He began his career with firms such as TD Waterhouse and Citigroup focusing on corporate reorganizations as well as equity and fixed income trading. As Vice President of Business Development, Matthew is responsible for educating prospective clients and brokers about HST’s Value-Based Payments solutions across the US. Before joining HST, he worked for Intuitive Surgical consulting hospitals on how to build successful robotic surgery programs. Prior to that, he worked for Medtronic partnering with providers to help manage challenging diabetes patients. Matthew is based out of HST’s Chicago office and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Hofstra University.
